Alexander Sandvoß

Alexander studied chemistry at WWU and at Cardiff University as Erasmus fellow. He graduated from WWU working in the group of Prof. Studer on on-surface reactions and joined the Wahl laboratory as Studienstiftung fellow in 2019. Apart from doing chemistry he is interested in music, swimming and cycling.

Mike Ong

Mike obtained his B.Sc. in chemistry from WWU working on C-H activation of aliphatic carboxylic acids in the group of van Gemmeren. After a research stay in the Rovis lab at Columbia University, he joined the Wahl laboratory in 2020. In his free time Mike follows his passion for photography and loves going to the gym.

Alexander Walz

Alex finished his B.Sc. in biomedical chemistry from JGU in 2020 working on the synthesis of functionalized PEG in the group of Prof. Frey. To obtain his M.Sc. he joined the Wahl laboratory and finished his thesis in September 2022. Beside chemistry, Alex is very interested in music and enjoys to play the trumpet in his free time.

Jan Sietmann

Jan worked on storage stability of adhesives at Armacell GmbH after finishing his studies. He obtained his M.Sc. from WWU working on ganglioside synthesis with Prof. Ryan Gilmour and joined the Wahl laboratory afterwards. Apart from organic chemistry Jan is particularly interested in making and teaching music.

Henning Maag

Henning studied chemistry at WWU and obtained his M.Sc. in 2020 working on the supramolecular polymerization of a thiophene-based Pt(II) complex in the group of Prof. Fernández. He joined the Wahl laboratory at JGU in 2021. In his free-time Henning plays beach volleyball or cooks with friends.

Marius Tenberge

Marius obtained his M.Sc. in 2019 from WWU performing research on photocatalytic isomerisations of alkenes in the group of Prof. Gilmour. Afterwards he joined the Wahl laboratory as Liebig PhD fellow. Outside of chemistry, Marius enjoys photography, archery and playing badminton.

Marlene Arnold

Marlene obtained her M.Sc. in chemistry from LMU in 2021. She joined the Wahl laboratory after performing her Master’s thesis at ETH with Prof. Helma Wennemers working on tripeptide catalyzed C-C-bond forming reactions. In her free time, she likes baking, cooking and doing Yoga.

Simone Kuhn

Simone finished her B.Sc. in biomedical chemistry working on the synthesis of a new box-type ligand as the first B.Sc. student in the Wahl group. After a research stay in the group of Prof. Bruce H. Lipshutz at University of California, Santa Barbara about sustainable synthesis methodologies, she returned to pursue her Masters' degree. Other than chemistry, Simone enjoys climbing and cycling as well as jazz music.
